Michel Mullye

Michel became involved with LIVE CONSORTIUM in 2009 when he volunteered for LIVE's first anti-stigma campaign at the University of Houston. In 2010, he served as a Director on the Board of Directors as well as on the Steering Committee. From 2011-2013, Bill served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Bill's primary goal is to eliminate the stigma of HIV and AIDS by expanding the outreach of LIVE CONSORTIUM into the entire Houston community. He has been active in fighting HIV/AIDS in Houston since the early 80's working with AIDS Foundation Houston, Bering and Unity AIDS Support Groups, Body Positive/Houston, Alliance of AIDS Service Organizations, Great Houston AIDS Alliance and the Center for AIDS.

​Mitchell Katine

Mitchell joined the board of LIVE CONSORTIUM in January 2012. Mitchell is a founding partner with the law firm of Katine & Nechman L.L.P. Mitchell’s areas of practice involves real estate, title insurance matters, and landlord-tenant disputes. He also handles employment law matters, estate planning, and general business litigation. He has also faithfully served on the Texas Real Estate Commission in the 1990’s. Mitchell has won numerous community service awards including the Uncommon Man Award in 2003 and the NAACP Outstanding Service Award in 1998.

Beau A. Miller 



Beau founded LIVE CONSORTIUM in January 2009 to eliminate the stigma associated with HIV.  By reducing HIV-related stigma, Beau truly believes that LIVE will play an important role in encouraging people to get tested, enter treatment and seek emotional support from their friends and family.  Both as President and CEO, Beau oversees the development and execution of LIVE's many programs, events and initiatives.  In his brief time with LIVE, Beau has presented at the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, the 2010 National HIV Summit in Washington D.C. and the 2011 International AIDS Impact Conference in Santa Fe.  As LIVE moves into its fourth year, Beau is excited about the positive impact LIVE will have on the entire Houston community.  Prior to founding LIVE, Beau served as a director at the Center For AIDS Board of Directors and chair of its Strategic Planning Committee. In addition to his work with LIVE, Beau is a trial attorney with the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, LLP.

 

Dr. Dakota Carter



Dr. Dakota Carter, MD is a an Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry program at McGovern Medical School in Houston. Dr. Carter is a passionate about academic medicine and diversity/inlcusion and began curriculum-building in medical school by developing the first LGBTQ curriculum for the medical school. This project has grown to include numerous lectures, a Gay-Straight Alliance at the school, and more inclusive education in medical school and residency education at McGovern Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Carter is an avid researcher, focusing on projects regarding substance abuse in adolescents, empathy and stress in medical school education, LGBTQ mental health, and HIV stigma; he believes that education is a key component in all these areas and finds joy in educating students, residents, and the community, being honored to receive several teaching awards for his dedication to healthcare education. Dr. Carter is a SAMHSA/APA Diversity Fellow, a George Ginsberg Fellow, and is also pursuing a doctorate in education from the University of Houston in Healthcare Curriculum, Instruction and Leadership.   Dr. Carter also recently won a coveted "30 under 30" award by CultureMap, and, in his first foray into politics, was the 2016 Democratic Nominee for the Texas State Board of Education for Houston.

Eric Roland



Eric Roland joined LIVE CONSORTIUM in May 2013. Eric has spent nearly 20 years working in the field of HIV/AIDS. His experience started in the early 1990s in Binghamton, New York where he volunteered with the People with AIDS Coalition. For 11 of his 14 years at Legacy Community Health Services, he directed the agency’s HIV/STD prevention programs, from HIV testing and counseling and community outreach programs to syphilis social marketing and group educational workshops. In August 2012, Eric spent nearly 3 weeks in Johannesburg, South Africa volunteering for a mission that provides social services to people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Eric received a bachelor’s degree in English from Miami University in 1990. He has been living healthy with HIV for 18 years.

Jon Humphries

John Humphries is a longtime resident of Houston Texas. John has more than a decade of experience in politics, government, and non-profit organizations. He has a strong interest in HIV/AIDS funding for the black LGBT community of color. John has served in many capacities  in a number of LGBT non-profit organizations during his professional career. During his time in Houston Jon has served as: Election Chair of the GLBT Political Caucus, Chair of the African American Lesbian and Gay Alliance (AALGA), Vice President of Houston Splash, Board Member of The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC), and serving a 6-year term as chair of assessment on the Ryan White Planning council, as well as co-chair of the planning council. He is currently a member of the Houston Black Area Democrats and the Community Planning Group, among other groups. Jon attended the University of Texas Austin for Business Administration.

Ruth Githumbi

Ruth first came to LIVE as an administrative assistant in January 2012 and became a Program Coordinator soon after. After transitioning from a full-time position with LIVE she continued to work in the nonprofit sector, serving in many capacities at various local nonprofits, and eventually become Executive Director of Trees of Hope, a nonprofit benefitting children living at Star of Hope, in 2015. Ruth has remained as a volunteer with LIVE, and is thrilled to help continue their efforts to abate HIV stigma in this community. Ruth gained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas, and is currently obtaining her Master’s in Nonprofit Management from the University of Houston - Downtown.
